Electric Vehicle Charger Rebate Program – City of Palo Alto

Funding:
First-come, first-serve program. Up to $8,000 per EV Charger. Rebates will only cover 75% of the overall cost of installation, up to $80,000 per location (10 EV charger rebate maximum).

Summary:
The City of Palo Alto Utilities (CPAU) is offering Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger rebates for schools, non-profits, and multifamily properties. Qualifying organizations in the CPAU service area can receive up to $80,000 for installing shared use EV chargers.
Qualified projects:
Level 2 or higher chargers at schools, non-profit organizations, or multi-family dwellings.
Requirements:
· Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) must be installed in a shared parking location not assigned or dedicated to tenants or owners. EVSE must remain available to all tenants, owners, employees, and guests.
· Rebates are not provided for EVSEs that are required by the City of Palo Alto’s Building Code.
· 2.3 Multifamily buildings must have a minimum of four (4) units.
· EVSE installation projects must comply with all City of Palo Alto building codes and permitting requirements and any American Disability Act (ADA) requirements, if applicable.
· Rebates are limited to Level 2 EVSEs or higher, with a minimum of 30A circuits. EVSEs must be installed with a J1772 plug.
· All applicants receiving a rebate shall post information about their EVSE on the US Department of Energy Alternative Fuel Data Center.
