Summary:

Federal public transportation law (49 U.S.C. 5339(c)) authorizes Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) to award grants for low or no emission bus projects through a competitive process. The Low-No Program provides funding to State (including territories and Washington DC), local governmental authorities, and tribal governments for the purchase or lease of zero-emission and low-emission transit buses, including acquisition, construction, and leasing of required supporting facilities such as recharging, refueling, and maintenance facilities.

Qualified Projects:

· Zero-Emission Busses - For the purchase or lease of zero-emission transit buses

· Zero-Emission Infrastructure - For construction projects related to supporting facilities such as the recharging, refueling, or maintenance of zero-emission equipment

Requirements:

Only States (including Washington D.C.), local governmental authorities, and Indian tribes may apply.
